About Us

Hello! We’re Preston & Sarah Lowder – Owners & Founders of Lowder Baking Company and Doc's Sandwich Shop & Deli.

We're both Shreveport, Louisiana natives, and we began Lowder King Cakes by making small batches of king cakes and cookies during Mardi Gras seasons and sharing with family and friends. Before we knew it, demand increased and we grew out of our home kitchen. We decided it was time to pursue our dream to open a local bakery - we quit our full-time jobs and opened up our first bakery storefront in January 2019, now known as Lowder Baking Company.

We're proud to offer high quality baked goods made from scratch every single day. We use wholesome, high quality ingredients - including local ingredients when possible. Our menu changes weekly, and includes: Breakfast Pastries, Cinnamon Rolls, French Bread & Baguettes, Assorted Breads, Cookies, Brownies, Cookie Cakes, Coffee & Espresso, Take & Bake Meals, and much more!

Our love of fresh baked breads made from scratch led to the opening of our next business, Doc's Sandwich Shop & Deli. The sandwich shop opened its doors next door to our Shreveport bakery location in October 2021, and is named after our beloved pet mini-dachshund. Doc's Sandwich Shop & Deli serves familiar favorites as well as creative takes on sandwiches - all made on fresh baked Lowder breads.

We are also thrilled to now have our second bakery location in Ruston, Louisiana which opened in January 2025.

Our famous, fresh baked Lowder King Cakes are available during Mardi Gras seasons, which starts for us each year on King’s Day (January 6th) until Mardi Gras Day.
